This is a little trick from Walthers.
If you're making some mining or railroad terrain for use with your WARMACHINE or HORDES games, you might find that dealing with modelling your railroad tracks can be difficult. If you choose to use regular model railroad track rather than plastic toy tracks, here's some helpful hints.
(By the way if you are using toy tracks instead, I recommend the Thomas the Train engine trackmaster packs. O Scale railroad cars usually fit well enough for scenery purposes, and it's inexpensive.)
Plastering, painting, adding flock, and gluing in ballast can get interesting when you're working around tracks.
As soon as you lay the cork roadbed down under the tracks, and then put the tracks into place using glue, keep it clean by covering it with painter's tape. I use Scotch Blue tape, but you can use whatever you'd like. The painter's tape will peel off easily but you could also use electrical tape if you like, although sometimes this leaves a sticky residue.
Lave the tape in place while you do your thing, and then peel the tape off when you are ready to add ballast.
When the ballast is in place, run an abbrasive-type cleaner across the top of the metal shanks of the railroad track to make it clean and shiny again.
Then get your game on.
