The capital of divided nation of Llael has drawn the attention of forces all over Immoren. Rumor has spread that the Amethyst Rose has discovered a child of noble birth, the last surviving member of the bloodline that may lay claim to the throne of the once proud nation. Word of this child has reached the ears of Queen Vanar and has ordered for an immediate investigation by her most trusted warcasters. A cadre of Kayazi Assassins has been commissioned by the queen to capture the gun mage responsible for uncovering the truth behind the matter and escort him back west to be interrogated. Under immense pressure from Khador after brutal defeats at Northguard, Cygnar has diverted resources to the Llaelese capital in order to help secure the survival of this child who may be the rallying point for her nation and the key to diverting the Khadoran war machine out of Cygnar and focused to the east. While the Protectorate has aided the Llaelese Resistance in securing critical victories in eastern Llael, this rumor has upset their already fragile trust in the warcaster Ashylnn D'Elyse, questioning whether their presence will be tolerated if the Resistance believes they no longer require the assistance of Hierarch Severius, so their allegiance in this matter remains unknown. These battles have also attracted the armies of Skorne, as a Cygnaran failure in Merywn may be the key to keeping Cygnar too divided to stand as the Skorne train their eyes on Corvis. However, being a strange race in a foreign land may not make them welcome regardless of who they are raising their swords against. After hearing of the Skorne Army's advance on Merywyn, Cygnar has struck a momentary and extremely tenuous accord with the Trollbloods of the Thornwood, lead by the Chieftan Ironhide. As a condition of the accord, the Ironhide must lead an assault on the Skorne in exchange for claim over a portion of their recently conquered lands. Will Madrak see the agreement through, or will the words of Hoarluck Doomshaper convince the Chieftan that this deal with Leto will be another promise left unkept? Where there is death, the agents of Cryx and Everblight are never far behind to collect the remains of the departed and turn them against their enemies. Mercenaries of all kinds have turned up in Merywyn in order to earn valuable coin in a time of crisis for Western Immoren. Horgenhold Fortress has sent aid to D'Elyse while Asheth Magnus has mobilized those under his employ to aid those that march against Cygnar. The streets of Merywyn will run with blood.
